When Republicans put up the web site Fancy Ford, bashing Rep. Harold Ford Jr., the Democrats were quick to respond with their own zinger Very Fancy Frist, smacking Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.
But Steve Gilliard had a more historical approach to the original bashing of Ford, noting the legacy of the word "fancy" as a pejorative against blacks.
