I don't know about you, but I'm not very busy -- yet. There's this lull after lunchtime while the reportsrs go out and do THEIR frantic thing -- it isn't about 10:30 that everything hits, 11 pages all at once. An hour later, it's over.
Papers slashing their production staff should consider that high-speed, high-quality production is accomplished by keeping the numbers up, like water through a pipe. Or maybe the LA Times could enlist the Tribune desk to get over the hump.
