To recap, rightwing bloggers fostered doubts about the existence of an Iraqi military officer that AP has used as a source for a long time. In particular, the officer was quoted as saying Sunni worshippers had been burned to death after leaving a mosque. The bloggers, then the US military and some journalists began challenging the AP to prove their source existed.
