Dealing With Bias

John Robinson*, editor of the Greensboro News&Record, writes about bias.

In the news biz, we get slammed all the time by people convinced that we're demonstrably favoring the other side, whatever it is. Anything involving Israelis-Palestinians, President Bush, Hillary Clinton, the war in Iraq or any number of other topics fires people up.

The ease with which they can bash the media, thanks to blogs and e-mails, has simply increased the quantity, if not the quality, of their observations. Though I will say that I rather enjoy arguments from bloggers who rely on facts and research instead of bombast. The "But the Clintons murdered Vince Foster" crowd. Well, not so much.
