UPDATE Free Speech and Pearl Jam

This story has been floating around the web for a couple of days: Pearl Jam says its lyrics were edited out during a webcast because of their political content.

AT&T doesn't deny it; in fact, it acknowledges that a contractor did it, in violation of AT&T policy and has apologized.

Which makes me wonder why a contractor thought it had the power to do so. And why it bothered.

Update: Apparently this isn't the first time AT&T has censored music.
