I'm sorry to report that Weta Ray (Thornabar) Clark died this weekend. She was a copy editor at NY Newsday several years ago, and a fine, lovely person.
UPDATE: I wasn't able to complete this posting earlier today so it was a bit lacking. Weta got into copy editing through METPro, a highly successful program created by the Times Mirror newspapers to find and train minority talent for TM's newsrooms. She was a member of its first group. Weta carried herself with professionalism and class the entire time. And from what I've heard today, she never changed.
