Of Atex, Tubes and Linda Ellerbee

Laurie at Three Dog Blog has been running a series called Birth of a Hack which is marvelous and takes us right back to the good old days (funny thing is, we didn't know they were the good old days) of unionized backshops, Atex computers, simplified spellings, U-shaped copy desks and more.

I tuned into her series at the point where she was describing one of those accidental all-newsroom message broadcasts on the computer system and "Line Full!!" responses from Atex.

Some great stuff about it what it was like to be one of the few, or perhaps only, woman in the newsroom. Ah, the good old days.

Nicely done and great nostalgia.
