Registration for the Unity Quadrennial Convention has just opened. The four organizations--Native American Journalism Association, National Association of Black Journalists, Asian American Journalists Association and National Association of Hispanic Journalists--are meeting in Chicago July 23-27.
Further information is here.
Having attended two of these conventions, I can say they are tremendously energizing and well worth attending. Thousands of people turn out for these conventions and since they're held now in a presidential campaign year, you can bet political types will be lining up to participate, even though the selection process should long be over with. Get there if you can.
This organization is not to be confused with one formed this year whose aim it is to come up with an independent ticket. Or something like that. This is how the like-named political group describes itself:
Only members of Unity08 can renew our great country by ranking the crucial issues and picking the Unity Ticket that will appear on the ballot in all 50 states and win the general election on November 4, 2008.
